Meru cabs has one of the best services and cab fleet in the metro's- At least i can confirm that for Bangalore and for Delhi. However, they have recently taken steps to start impacting their business model negatively.
Now if call their phone no and book a cab on the phone, you will need to pay an additional 50Rs. I mean how stupid can you be! Why would someone be willing to pay an additonal 7% to go the airport in Bangalore. Now they don't charge additional money if you go and book online on their site www.merucabs.com .
I tried doing this recently on the web. Here are a few obeservations.
1. One can register for free on the website
2. The website is quite easy to navigate.
3. The place where you book is quite easy to do- But you are not confirmed on the booking immediately. Once you submit your request, someone at the backend will schedule and send you an EMAIL . I did not get an SMS confirming the booking- which again is bad.
So, i am sure as time progresses, such means will not add value to the company and it will negatively impact their business as it goes forward.
I hope meru cabs owners reconsider this- i was actually a fan- but because of this- i am planning to shift to easy cabs instead of meru.

Very True... Meru Cabs are a pain in the wrong place...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Mumbai I realized that the Meru Cab fares have been hiked, due to hike in fuel rates, just like the fares of the BEST, auto rickshaw and black & yellow taxis.
ReplyDeleteIn Bangalore and Hyderabad however a convenience charge of Rs.25 has been levied in addition to the regular fare, if a person makes a cab booking through the call center.
Considering rates on everything else is soaring up, I don't think the additional 25 Rs. is that big a deal, as long as the service is great.
Its because Meru Wants customers to book online and decongest their voice booking system...So the charge of Rs.25..Got it?
