Shrinking product cycles

In the recent businessworld magazine the main article talks about the way that the prodct cycle has been shrinking.

One example they gave is that Samsung has actually come out with 30 odd new.models in their cellphone category over the last 12 months.

Now this is changing the way consumers are behaving and should be be interacting with manufacturers.

One main point is obsolency of these products in the market. One buys a new phone for 35000 Rs and its no longer the latest model in 2 mobths time. These trends now need to be understood by consumers. If one is going to buy these high end gadgets for its snob value- it is going to be of any snob value only for the next 2 months. Hence the value of buying these is nil.

Consumers should be careful of these and buy products which actually add value to you as a user.

Be smart. Simplefinancialsense
