Paperless at the ATM

Right now our government is at the UN and talking about what India will do for climate change.

We have ambitious plans , be it solar power and wind power or nowdays no car days at different cities .

Another quick way for all us to impact is to avoid printouts of our financial bills .. Telephones or bank statements .

Today when I went out to the Hdfc atm I saw yet another example of the bank making an impact.. Removing the option of the slip for receipt post withdrawals.

I am not sure if they used analytics to take the decision... Could be quite easy.. Just check the number of people who took the receipt when they had the option.

We all need to do something to impact our environment . .. To leave something of a good future for our children and our next generations..

What are you going to do ? Join in the paperless bandwagon...

It's simplefinancialsense.

Go Green!

Yep--- Go Green.

I mean look around you and one can see the changes that are happening in the world-- crazy climate-- seasons are changing -- rapidly and resources are depleting.

Hum Do Humare Do-- will only fuel the population growth in the country and that would mean more resources required.

In the midst of all of this--I see a ray of hope -- of energy efficient products in the market and environmental friendly policies. The world economies are getting together and bickering about whose issue it is and who needs to pay for it... but bickering and not doing something about it is like biting your nose to spite your face.

There ae some great steps that the karnataka government is taking .

1. Rainwater Harvesting: It has been made mandatory for any complex > 2400 Sq ft to have a rain water harvesting plant. This will definately save a lot of water and create less pressure on resources.
Here is the article that i just scanned from the times of India this friday.

2. Solar Water heaters: The one place that i can see this in bangalore is -- EVERYWHERE. All individual houses have a solar water heater installed. It makes sense because the weather is also usually pleasant all through the year and warm/ Hot water is always used.

3. Traffic Police: I mean which place in the country do you see a traffic wala thulla with a blackberry? They are all connected to the main server and can find information about your car and any open tickets with the click of a button-- In the process saving a lot of paper and natural resources.

4. ALL bus day: This is something recently started out in blore. In this day , everyone is encouraged to come by bus to office and not using their own public transport. A great way to ensure lower costs and strain on resources. In fact I think there is another all bus day on the 5th of April.

One can also do things ourselves to save on scanty resources for the future generation.

1. Save Electricity: Switch of Something !! I am sure there are multiple things that do not need to be connected to the power plug even though we are not using it-- Microwave, Tv , Cellphone chargers, Video games, etc. Take the time out to switch off the plug.

2. Save Water: Conserve water. If you look at the next big business -- it is water. Anything to do with water, Cleaning water, conserving water, creating water--- so please conserve it. Use the tap as much as it is required.

3. Save fuel: my last post on this has some good ideas-- applicable everywhere.

Lets take the first step... Its in our own interests--- whats the use of saving money if we need to spend ten times the same for getting basic hygeine stuff.
