Reading a new book-- Summary

I Just finished reading a book called

"Money for life-- 12 weeks to financial success"

here is a link where you can download it... HERE

Its quite an interesting book written like a story, of two people christine and ryan who are having issues in their personal life because of financial isssues and they meet up with Tom who is  financial planner and their story afterwards.

They use a tool called mvelopes ( mvelopes.com) which uses the principle of creating envelope budgets for each type of category online and how understanding how much money they have left lets them get a control on their finances.( My mom did this quite well-- and now they have actually created a software basis this)

The online tool links to bank accounts and credit card accounts and one can classify transactions basis that to get almost real time information as to where the money has been spent and how much money is left in which envelope.( Wish arthamoney also got the transaction in credit cards out also-- which it presently does not do)

Quite a useful tool-- used widely in the US-- so people in the US who read this blog-- try it out at http://www.mvelopes.com/ - there is a free trial period and after that they charge a very little amount per month.

Its a short book, well worth reading-- again-- here is a link where you can download it from - Link

Happy reading... and if anyone has an idea of how the tool works in real life... let us all know.

Suze Orman's free e book

Suze orman—Having watched her programs on TV , I can with no doubt say that she is one of the most knowledgeable people in finance around the world.

I was lucky to find this free ebook of hers.. am am sharing this with you—its an interesting read--- again specific to the US environment—but great read nonetheless

Happy reading.

Some Great Reading Material

There are multiple ways of learning finance and being on top of the new happenings in the financial world. I prefer the option of reading --- either hard copy books or in my google reader.

I am listing a few of my favourite reading sites and manuals and the reason why.

1. Outlook money Magazine
This is one magazine ( 30/- an edition) which has very good basics of finance as its articles. It has theoretical answers as well as practical ones. The magazine comes out once a fortnight and is a great read.

2. Moneytoday
Another similiar magazine like outlook -- but has a continuing series by a stock manager on what to buy and someone who also analyses the reasons. Great to get an understanding of the stock market

3. Rich Dad Poor Dad Series
My ALL time favourite- Read the books and you will understand the reason why. Do Not miss this-- whereever you may be.

4. Moneycontrol.com
The first and the only great Indian website . It has great portfolio services and you can buy MFs online itself from here. This is the web based version of CNBC TV18. There are other websites like NDTVprofit.com etc... but no comparison to this.

5. Thesimpledollar.com
this is an online content blog from the US. useful. Has great points on saving money. However sometimes is too frugal for my taste. But great to read most of the times.

6. Equitymaster.com
A daily email on the status of the stockmarket and has good insights to the Indian and international stock market. The emails are free of cost. Go ahead and subscribe.

7. www.fool.com
Great learning website- Mostly US based information - but helpful even here in India.

8.Simplefinancialsense.com
this blog of course ;)

As they say -- the only way to earn is first to be financially literate. And its not difficult -- as i try to explain-- finance is common sense-- we just need to use it.

Happy reading!
