I was travelling by flight recently and i had the opportunity to use my silver status with one of the prominent airlines.
I was presently surprised to get into a totally small line to check my luggage into the flight and the lady gave me a pleasant smile and gave me a lounge pass.
I had gotten these passes earlier- but never used them while travelling incountry.
I had more than an hour to kill - so decided to walk into the lounge and have a look around and compare it with the international ones.
To be honest, i was pleasantly surprised. The lounge was decent and i had a nice breakfast spread ( it was 5am in the morning!) . I decided to take the plunge and try the food out instead of eating in the flight.
After a good baked beans, paranthas and a few sweet fruits i was decidedly more happy to face the flight and travel ( it had been a very rough week).-- (Saving at least 250/-)
So - where am i going with this? Trying to tell you to please fill in the loyalty card -- where ever you travel or shop.
there are multiple benefits to these cards--
1. some of them are across the country( ies) and hence are very useful when travelling-- eg a Landmark card, lifestyle, airoplane services, Hertz etc.
2. Some have special discounts for their members-- sometimes even upgrades-- comeon-- it helps!
3. Some of these cards are also across multiple carriers-- eg- you can book miles onto kingfisher if you travel by air france-- so it just helps you build up your status.
The one thing i do is to not carry all of these cards with me-- but have the card nos saved on my cellphone-- so my wallet is less bulky.
So go ahead-- join the club... and smile.
