Sharpen your saw

I am in the corporate world and interact with many professionals across a gamut of companies , some which work as my customers and some employees even within my own company.

As i interact with them, i keep getting reminded about how much it is important for people to keep sharpening the saw.

I have a favourite quote which explains what i am talking about
" when was the last time you did something for the first time"

This aspect of doing something new or challenging yourself to change one step st a time, to a more successful professional is key to staying relevant in an ever increasing competitive environment.

The world is changing around you- very fast. One cannot imagine that while the world changes, we will continue to be in demand with the same skills that existed with us before.

The younger generation doesnt seem to realize this - about building capability - re energizing your career , doing tough projects , all add value to what you can deliver and hence remain " wanted " by the market.

How you spend your time in learning stuff is critical , challenging yourself to newer boundaries- even more so.

Take the tough job or assignment... While the company gets its due- you get an exponential learning which makes you even more desirable employee.

Your career is a critical part of your financial health. Take care of it.
