Getting ahead: Rich house poor house:

I had the opportunity to see an episode of rich house poor house while on a flight from amsterdam to delhi.

The title caught my fancy and i spent the next 25 mins watching the episode with great interest.

Basically in this two families from the other ends of the wealth spectrum change places for a week and get to see how the other side live. In the episode i saw a lower income family who had some 170 pounds a week to spend on food and gifts ( family of four.. three kids and a mom) change places with a family who had 2800 pounds per week to spend ( six, four girls and parents- who had settled in from syria.. both parents doctors).

Its an absolutely amazing concept. The girls from the wealthy family at the end of a week learnt how to be careful about money, while the other children learnt what the good life can mean if they study, work hard.

A life changing experience for both.

In our own lives we must understand that money is important.  It enables us to be able to give children opportunities that they would not habe gotten if there was less money. People with less money even if they have the talent are disadvantaged.

I know you all get it.. it needs to be taught to our children to appreciate the head start that they have gotten versus the others... get them to understand the value of money...
