Its amazing to see the number of holiday advertisements in the newspapers wherever you go in the world. These nice ads lure you with a promise of seeing new things and a lot of rest and relaxation.
Holidays have become important for all in this world today. Stressful lives find peace in those few days, ensuring that we get recharged and ready to take on the world once again.
The snapshot I am attaching is the list of holidays in the TOI today in delhi. Lots of exciting deals... covering more than three pages In the delhi times.
One can go to hongkong, France and Swiss, Singapore and Malaysia, Thailand, Europe .. all the pages are about international travel. Maybe around 5% is within India travel.
What a shame. India holidays even though great value and great places to see do not form any significant part of the overall scheme of things.
Unfortunately our travel and tourism industry is down in the dumps with very little focus on showcasing it to our own people.
Imagine the amount of money that we as Indians spend on international holiday trips... tremendous! ! If only 10% of that was spent in the country ... it could do a lot for the GDP .
When i get to travel to other countries, 90% of their advertisement is for travel and tourism within their country and region... they promote themselves very well.
In the newspapers there again the number of advertisement for india travel is maybe one among the 50 odd ads.
India does a bad job of promoting itself. We spend a lot of money ... but it goes into the wrong places.
We could learn a lot by countries like Malaysia, Thailand and get visitors to come to our lands and spend time recharging themselves and also recharging our coffers.
Its simplefinancialsense ... I just hope someone is listening .
