I always hear about how much the salaries of public sector employees is low when compared to private sector employees.
However as always one needs to see the overall benefits and the cost of those benefits in the public sector world.
Right now being in the escorts heart hospital in Delhi and looking at the prices that are charged to cghs employees and private employees i see such a stark gap that i feel that private employees are losing out the battle.
Here is a quick example. The stent that i need to pay for an angioplasty is 5x more costly.
Private. CGHS
Stent. Rs 130,000. Rs 23000
Imagine the difference in one surgery.
The service or rooms provided is the same., the doctor is the same, everything else is the same
The point is that one needs to look at the overall package while evaluating job opportunities and not only the salary package.
When interviewing for a job.. ask for the benefit package. That can take away your 20% jump in salary.
Its simplefinancialsense.
