Today I received an email from linked in saying that there was a security issue on my account and I need to click and change my password through a link that they had provided.
These kind of emails need to be carefully checked before taking action.
The first check should be on where the email has come from and in this case it was not from any LinkedIn.com I'd. ( see the first circle) .
Secondly usually the correct company will send the link and show you that the link is going to a secure I'd in linked.com. In the pic you can see there is no such link.( red circle)
Fraudsters use these phishing techniques to get your passwords and access to critical information and then take advantage of that. These can be large amounts siphoned off your bank accounts or in this case can create havoc on my public profiles at linked in.
One MUST take care and use some of the tips I have provided to check if the email is a true email or not.
