It was hidden in my promotional email from hdfc life... hidden away from normal sight.. something that i usually never went and saw. A beautiful Hdfc life has brought out a game on google play.
Hdfclifegame.. that's the name of the app... A must download.
In this game you are basically playing like a board game with your different personas ( doctor , lawyer , engineer) across the multiple life stages... Until you retire.
The idea of the game is the teach you to make the right investment decisions across all of the categories.
It helps one to define oneself as a conservative moderate or aggressive investor.
It defines which goals you want to invest for .. your present, your future or your retirement ( it basically allocates the money in the different portfolios)
As you go through life it brings about different scenarios that one goes through to educate one on what could happen.
The scenarios include medical emergencies, job losses , market downturns, etc
All in all a very interesting game. I think this is something like the cash flow game from Rich Dad poor Dad .
Some of the key things I have learned as I played are below.
1. Create different portfolios for your different needs. For an emergency use the money from your emergency portfolio.
2. Insurance is critical.. dont miss having both a medical or life insurance
3. How much cash to keep in your hand... And how much to invest. While they do have a percentage as a number, as you start collating large investment numbers or get paid higher these percentages should come down.
4. There will be and can be emergencies.. don't imagine and get bogged down by it. It is a part of life.. you will be lucky to finish the game without any emergency... Why game.. life itself
